The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in reaction to reports going round has stated that it does not use students’ checklist in determining applicants’ preferred schools. According to Economic Confidential a magazine, Unilorin had the highest student applicants of 103,238 (males – 51, 082 and females – 52, 156). The report said that academic stability, popularity, affordability, available facilities and quality of lecturers were factors students considered before choosing their preferred institutions.

Jamb registrar has made it known that the post – UTME will not be one of the requirements to offer candidates admission, he also compelled schools which have not updated the requirements for the 2017 brochure to do so with immediate effect.
Students seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria have been given a lifeline until Wednesday, November 30, 2016. In accordance to information obtained by Information Nigeria, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stated on Friday, September 16, that all admissions to universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education should end at the stipulated time. Speaking at the University of Abuja, venue of an Extra-Ordinary Technical Committee Meeting on 2016 Admissions to First Choice Institutions, the JAMB boss noted that the board was ready to attend to authentic requests of everyone involved in ensuring the efficiency of the examination body.JAMB sets November 30 deadline for admission to schools
