Moves by the Nigerian government to build up the nation’s proven oil reserve through exploration of new frontiers received a fresh thrust with the news that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as 21 oil wells out of the 23 drilled so far have the potential of full prospects of oil. The report from the NNPC showed that a total of 23 oil wells have already been drilled by mining oil companies that have been involved in oil exploration in the North in the past 30 years. While only 2 of them were reportedly hit a dry run, 21 other wells were said to hold prospects of oil.
The police in Lagos State have launched a manhunt for a resident of Azeez Olaosebikan Street, Agege, Babatunde Igbara, after he allegedly battered his wife’s eyes.
The man reportedly rained punches on the 38-year-old woman, Gbemisola Igbara, in the presence of their four children until her eyes became swollen.

Nineteen candidates are vying for the ticket to the Government House. However, the main contest is seen to be between Godwin Obaseki of the APC and Andrew Ize-Iyamu of the PDP. Edo state has a total of 1,925,105 registered voters; 192 Registration Areas (RAs); 2,627 Polling Units (PUs); and 4,011 Voting Points (VPs). A total of 25,000 police officers were deployed across the state to ensure peace and security during the polls, while 44 observer groups were accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as election monitors.Voting is ongoing at the polling

In a statement issued by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant, Media, and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, made it known that the NPower Recruitment Test Schedule in the various categories of the N-Power program will commence on 20th September 2016 and end on 18th October 2016.
